This 7 doctor GP practice is based in the centre of Ainsdale Village. It is a busy but friendly surgery and has been a training practice for many years. There is a team of District Nurses and Health Visitors attached to the practice as well as Practice Nurses who are based wholly at the surgery. We have easy access to community based Counsellors’.
The surgery is fully computerised and the Registrar will have his/her own consulting room with their own P.C. and access to the internet. The Registrar will take 8 surgeries a week and will have a regular half day for private study. On Thursday afternoons he/she will attend the Half Day Release Course at Fazakerley Hospital Postgraduate Centre.
After every morning surgery all the doctors meet in the common room for coffee and this is a valuable time to discuss any issues that have arisen. Weekly tutorials are held with the Trainer. There is a regular weekly practice meeting where day to day running of the practice is discussed between the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team.
Out of hours is covered by GPOC and sessions can be arranged for the registrar to gain experience in out of hours work at the On Call Centre.
The surgery has a number of specialised clinics which are held regularly and these include Diabetic, Asthma, Baby, CHD clinics and also Minor Surgery. We
now offer a full family planning in house service for: IUS,IUD and LARC. We also offer acupuncture for certain musculoskeletal disorders. The Registrar will be able to sit in on all of these and thus gain a wide range of experience.
The Practice has GP's with specialist interest in CHD, Diabetes, Dermatology , Family planning and Appraisal (GP Appraiser).
There are also regular educational lunchtime meetings each month.
